The Queen conch is an herbivorous mollusk that provides the aquarist a low maintenance tank cleaner, as well as an environmentally friendly species with an interesting life history to converse over. The Queen conch is an endangered species which has been commercially harvested throughout the Caribbean for its meat. The culture of this animal is done with hopes of rehabilitating wild stocks as well as relieving some of the fishing pressure currently being imposed upon the populations.
